In the pneumatic system, the compressor is the power variable that creates the flow of pressurized air needed to do useful work. A compressor can be typically utilized in the applications listed below. Pneumatic system can achieve and is vital to the proper operation of all DJ components.

  • Pneumatic cylinder lifting and lowering operations
  • Pneumatic motor operations such as machining, conveying, spinning, and lifting
  • Clamping applications
  • Lubricating operations of gear boxes, valves, cylinders, and other components
  • Blowing applications
  • Pneumatic tools operation
  • Air filling of different components such as air bag lifting systems

Available in different configurations that make the best use of available space, a CRC-Evans DJ compressor system is typically comprised of the following components:

  • Compressor: Converts mechanical energy to pneumatic energy by compressing atmospheric air to a higher pressure which is used by the DJ pneumatic system
  • Prime Mover: Can be an electric motor or diesel engine and is the source which supplies the mechanical power to drive the compressor
  • Pressure Switch: Controls the prime mover based on the pressure level sensed at the receiver (tank). The switch will turn on the prime mover if the tank pressure falls below a predetermined set point or turn it off if the pressure rises above a maximum value. The pressure control switch allows the pneumatic system to maintain the right level of pressure at all times, which ensures that air at the required pressure and volume is readily available to all working components.
  • Check Valve: Prevents air from leaking out of the air tank during compressor idle phases
  • Receiver/Tank: The tank stores the compressed air and is sized by CRC-Evans for at least 50% duty cycle and twice the system demand in storage, which ensures the highest level of system performance
  • Pressure Gauge: The pressure gauge is vital for safety and ensures that the tank pressure can be easily read for preventative maintenance checks and monitoring
  • Auto Drain: Drains all the water out of the tank without the need for a human attendant
  • Safety Valve/Pressure Regulator: Allows the relief of excessive air pressure, which prevents injury to personnel or system failure
  • Refrigerated Air Dryer and After-Cooler: This component cools the compressed air and removes water to prevent it from getting into downstream components
  • Line Filters: The compressor system is furnished with a line filter that allows minimal pressure drop while allowing maximum oil mist, water, and particulate removal. This type of filter prevents unnecessary downtime and improves system performance.
